Hey All... I am conected with BitPim to my phone and I was able to copy and delete the mysound file.  I transfered my ringtones and all matched up with the above process.  Unfortunately I still don't have them in "my ringtones" which is the only list that I can assign to contacts.  All of my ringtones did show up on my phone, but they are in "Music".  I am not sure where I went wrong or if I just don't know how to use my phone, but any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

Yes... I did it just as you said, and I saw all of my default ringtones in there and then added my personal ringtones, but they still are not on my phone.  Do I have to tell BitPim to update my phone?  I tried that once and it restarted my phone, so I thought that I may have gotten it, but still no luck.

I am having trouble getting this to work for me. I followed the directions as written, and everything went fine with the following exceptions:

1. When you go into BitPim to detect the phone you're supposed to choose, Alltel - LG - Dare....you can't do that now, you have to choose Verizon Wireless...didn't seem to me like it would have been a problem but I thought I'd put it here since it's not working for me.

2. The mysound.dat file keeps putting itself back into the dload folder after I reboot my phone and plug it back into BitPim.

My custom ringtones are mp3 files, and they're showing up on the BitPim list of my ringtones, they're just not showing up on my phone after multiple reboots and re-tries.

Any suggestions???

the mysound.dat file will reload itself when you turn your phone on.

bitpim shows the files you loaded in the list?

i had trouble getting this to work the first couple times i tried it. but, now every time i go into add ringtones it works perfect with no problems. if you guys are following the steps then all i can say is start from the beginning and give it a couple more tries. i believe your just missing a small step. maybe someone else on here will have an idea for you two that i'm missing.

i'd just make sure that your not putting the files into the brew/media/ms folder but you are putting them into the brew/media/lk/ms folder.

I would have to agree about powering off and on multiple times. The first time I tried, it worked on the 3rd round. However, it will not work again. Oddly enough, it made what I already had in there disappear from the list. But as long as I left the files on the phone, they were still assigned and working. I've been trying now with my replacement phone off and on for the last 3 days to get ringers on it, with no luck. The only thing I can possibly think is maybe something preventing it in the new firmware...? My old one hjad ver2, this one has 4.

Yep, I REALLY think it has to do with the FIRMWARE version. I tried again with my old phone. Wiped all the ringtones off, rebooted it to make sure. Then reconnected, and  added all 189 ringtones in one shot. Rebooted, and wow! All there. It also helps to you use the phone wizard EVERY time you add/ remove tones. If you or anyone you know has an older Tritan with ver3 or less, load the tones onto it, reboot it, then go back into filesystem/brew/media/lk. right-click on ms, and choose "backup directory." Then, go down to filesystem/dload, and do the same, but just for the "myringtone.dat." Exit bitpim, unplug. Plug in the later phone, or the phone to add the tones to. Go through all the same steps to get into the file system. in filesystem/brew/media/lk, right click on ms, and choose "Restore..." Select the "ms.zip." It'll bring a prompt of all the files within the archive. Deselect whichever you dont want, and hit ok. It'll load them all on. Now go down to filesystem/dload. locate the "myringtone.dat" file. Right-click and choose "replace." select the file from other phone. Now, anywhere in the file system, right-click and select "reboot phone." VOILA! Success! I just did this today and it worked like a charm. Takes awhile, but so did everything else, so it's up to you whether or not it's worth it...

Any news for adding your own ringtones w/ the new firmware? I have a newer tritan and followed these instructions to a tee, but with no luck. Is there anything for phones with newer firmware? Thanks in advance for any helps or links provided..

Hello all, im new to the site and new to the phone. However, ive done everytrhing to a T as far as the procedure goes and watched the video on youtube also. It shows that the songs transfer and are there, i power off the phone and turn it back on but the songs DO NOT show up under RINGTONES. And yes ive tried it several times, and followed the instructions perfectly, no steps missing and still not working for me. Could someone please shed some light on this for me please? And thanks in advance! And btw, i do have alltel. Huh Angry

Hay all I forgot to mention a few things...

When pressing the send data to phone button you have to check the ringtones box and make sure you add not replace all.

I did not have to do anything with mysound.dat

I have the latest firmware too.

Hope this works for you all..  Smiley
